Getting Invisalign

Your Invisalign treatment begins with a consultation with one of our expertly trained dentists. At this appointment, we’ll also take x-rays, molded impressions and photos of your teeth. These will all be sent to the Invisalign lab, which will use them to develop a digital 3D representation of your mouth. This in turn will be the basis of the orthodontic treatment plan we develop for you at Arkansas River Valley Dentistry. This plan will not only show you exactly how your teeth will move during treatment, but is also the roadmap Invisalign uses to fabricate your customized aligners. These aligners are made of smooth, BPA-free plastic, so you don’t have to worry about cheek and gum irritation that often happens with traditional braces.

Your aligners will arrive in our Clarksville office as a series of sets—one for your top arch and one for the bottom. Wear each set for approximately two weeks and then move on to the next set in the series. Of course, we’ll want to see you for checkups, so we can monitor your progress. But there won’t be any uncomfortable or time-consuming adjustments or new wires.

Living with Invisalign

There are no diet restrictions or frustrating changes to your oral hygiene routine, because the clear aligners are removable. When it’s time to eat or brush and floss your teeth, just take out your Invisalign aligners and proceed as usual. For teens who play sports, aligners can be temporarily removed, so a mouthguard can be worn to protect your improving smile. To clean, remove and rinse thoroughly with warm water.
